Abstract

One of the water quality indicators is pH. In aquaculture, the ideal pH value is approaching 7. When the pH in the pond turns to acid or alkaline, it must be drained and the water must be replaced so that fish on the pond will not die. Due to human limitations that can not keep watching the pond full day, automation is made for water change in the pond based on the pH of the water. This research uses servo motors and water pumps for water circulation, water pump is used for water supply, while servo is used to drain the pond. The pH value in the pond is indicated by the pH sensor. When the pH is below 6 and the pH is above 8 then water is not worth to use and the system will drain the pond and fill it automatically by opening the tap and turning on the water pump. All components are controlled using arduino microcontroller. According to the sensor test results, the output voltage result of the pH sensor affects the pH value. The higher the pH value the lower the voltage output, and vice versa. Obtained voltage for pH 3.6 is 3,735V, pH 4.7 is 3,232V, pH 6.8 is 2,693V, pH 7.2 is 2,471V, pH 8.6 is 2,045V, pH 9.4 is 1,786V, and pH 10.4 Is 1,243V. The more acidic or the more alkaline water in the pond, the longer duration of the water circulation. For pH 3.4 the duration is 3,4 minutes, pH 5.7 is 1,6 minutes, pH 7.2 is 0 seconds, pH 8.6 is 1 minutes, and pH 10.3 is 2.3 minutes.
