Abstract

Nutritional status of under-five childrens affected by sosio-economic and sosio-cultural factors that impact at their nustrition and eating habit. This study aimed to examine the relationship between mother’s occupation, family income, mother’s nutritional knowledge and exclusive breastfeeding with nutritional status in under-five children. This study was an observasional analytic study by use of cross sectional design. The study population (sample) consist of 36 children with normal nutritional status and 34 children with upnormal nutrional status (under nutrition and over nutrition). This study was conducted in Boyolali District, Central Java in Banyudono II Primary Health Care in December 2017. The dependent variable of this study was nutritional status which was meassured with antropometric index Weight For Age (WFA), and independent variable of this study were mother’s occupation, family income, mother’s nutritional knowledge, and exclusive breastfeeding which were meassured with questionnaire. The relationship of each variables were analyzed with logistic regression in SPSS v.20. The result shows that mother’s nutritional knowledge and exclusive breastfeeding has significant relationship with nutritional status in under-five children (mother’s nutritional knowledge p= 0,001 OR = 20,928 CI = 95% 3,44-127,17 ; exclusive breastfeeding p=0,003 OR = 6,64 CI 95% = 1,91-23,12). Other variable didn’t show significant relationship. Conclusion for this study was mother’s nutritional knowledge and exclusive breastfeeding has statistically significant with nutritional status of under-five children.
