Abstract

Kemujan Island is part of Karimunjawa Islands, which is a Marine National Park that serves to protect water benthic habitats, especially coral reefs. However, in reality, the condition of coral reefs in Kemujan Island tend to become more worrying due global warming, shipping and tourism activities. Therefore, it’s a necessary to hold condition assessment of coral reefs in an attempt to improve the quality of coral reefs in Kemujan Island. Through this research, the assessment of coral reefs condition in Kemujan Island is divided into two parts, 1) to determine the difference of PCA transformation for mapping coral reefs density in Kemujan Island; 2) to identify the condition of coral reef ecosystem in Kemujan Island. Condition assessment of coral reefs through interpretation and PCA transformation on Pléiades-1A imagery that completed with data processing of water condition (sedimentation, water brightness, salinity, and sea surface temperature) can reveal coral reefs condition in real world. Sample of field survey used as reference to assess coral reefs map accuracy which is the result of data processing in this research. The analysis used to support this research to assess coral reefs condition is spatial analysis, statistic analysis, accuracy and descriptive analyisis. The results of this research is, first, the use of PCA transformation had no difference on Pléiades-1A imagery for mapping coral reefs density, because there is no increase or decrease in mapping accuracy. The second result is, in Kemujan Island, coral reefs with the best condition located on an area of 247,88 ha, and coral reefs with average condition located on an area of 223,40 ha, with 78,55% mapping accuracy.
