Abstract

The purpose of this research is to see how the process of dissemination and acceptance of SOS Children's Villages program in Indonesia using innovation diffusion theory approach. This research is a qualitative research and use in-depth interview technique to collect data and supported by secondary data which researcher get from library study and documents. Sampling technique in this research is purposive sampling by looking for some people who researcher assume have information and deep knowledge related to this research topic. Data analysis was done by using interactive model and validated by data triangulation technique. The results of this study are carried out although both types of channels are used in the dissemination of innovation, but interpersonal communication channels have more influence on adopter decision making to adopt. SOS Children's Villages has five characteristics as an innovation: relative advantage, compatibility, complexity, trialability, and observability. The live-in program has become an important stage during the adoption process, because at that time it has a role to form adopter appraisal through two things: direct observation as well as when they receive encouragement from those who are already adopt the program.
