Abstract

Tobacco is the leading commodity of most of Indonesia's population. high prices make tobacco more and more cultivated by Indonesian farmers and along with increasing human pollution, tobacco commodities are needed more and more. the need for good cultivation or processing of Tobacco to meet the needs that always increase along with the population. The ever increasing need for land leads to the increasing scarcity of agricultural land for superior tobacco cultivation, requiring the optimization of land use resources that enable the continued availability of land for sustainable cultivation of tobacco. In this study using Survey Method which includes observation, measurement, recording systematically to the symptoms or phenomena that exist in the object of research. The results showed the characteristics of land units in Plaosan subdistrict if adjusted to the suitability class of tobacco land included in class N2. The limiting factors are : Groundwater depth, Elevation of place and, K2O. The distribution of land suitability rate of Tobacco Land in Kecamatan Palosan is in category N2. But the facts that exist in the field shows that tobacco plants can still be cultivated in Palosan District as for the villages ngancar, .because of the type of tobacco and fertilizer to overcome the minimya value of K20, irrigation of river water.
