Abstract
Utilization of wind energy in Indonesia is still low, this is due to average of wind speeds between range 2 to 6 m / s. Using a diffuser shroud can increase the wind speed around the wind turbine rotor. The purpose of this research is to know the effect of shrouds diffuser on wind turbine. This research used the experimental method of comparison between ordinary wind turbine and shrouds diffuser wind turbine. The specification of wind turbine has a 2.5 m diameter’s rotor, using NACA 4412 airfoil taperless and diffuser specification used has a width of 0.565 m, a 2.7 m inlet diameter, and has outlet diameter of 2.91 m. The results of this research represent that diffuser wind turbine has a significant influence on power acquisition and has coefficient of power at wind speed 3 - 6 m / s. The deviation coefficient of wind turbine diffuser shroud reaches 40 times than ordinary wind turbine at a wind speed of 3 m / s, due to the difference in cut in speed on the wind turbine shrouds diffuser.
