Abstract
Husk of rice could be converted into methane gas by gasification method. The objectives of this researh were to know the combustion hole's influences of gasification furnace to the combustion temperature, to know the duration of the flame effectively, and to know the duration of boiling the water. The research begins with the manufacturing of gasification furnace and it was obtained the gasification furnace design consisting of combustion reactor with the following spesificasions: 900mm for the high of reactor, 290mm for the outer diameter of reactor, and 240mm for the inner diameter of reactor. Then analyze the combustion result of gasification furnace with the combustion hole in diameter of 4 mm, 6 mm, and 8 mm. The measurement of combustion temperature and the recording of water changes' temperature done as much as 5 liters every 3 minutes. The result of this research shows that the combustion hole has a higher temperature and a longer effective flame in a diameter of 4 mm. At a diameter of 4 mm, the highest average temperature is 673.96 °C with an effective flame of 1 hour 9 minutes. At a diameter of 6 mm, the average temperature is 516.46°C with an effective flame of 1 hour 3 minutes. And at a diameter of 8 mm, the average temperature is 425.73°C with an effective flame of 57 minutes. For boiling water, a diameter of 4 mm can boil 5 liters of water in 6 minutes 22 seconds, a diameter of 6 mm in 7 minutes 29 seconds, and a diameter of 8 mm in 8 minutes 10 seconds.
