Abstract

The objectives of this study are to describe;(1)socio historical setting of Nova AyuMaulita as the author of Sakuranovel, (2) structuresof Sakura novel by Nova AyuMaulita,(3) moral values onSakuranovel by Nova Ayu Maulita using literary sociology approach, (4) and properness of novel Sakuraby Nova AyuMaulitaas teaching materialin Senior High School. This study used descriptive qualitative method. The object was the moral values onSakuranovel by Nova AyuMaulitathrough review of literature sociology. The data of this study werephrases, sentences, andparagraphs on SakuranovelbyNova AyuMaulita. The data were collected by using library, listening, and noting techniques. The data were analyzed by using semiotic reading model; heuristic and hermeunitic readings.The results of this study are; (1) the socio-historical setting of Nova AyuMaulita as the author of Sakuranovel is that, she is born on November 25, 1985 in Semarang, Central Java; (2) the structuresof Sakura novel by Nova AyuMaulita are that, the theme on the novel is about love and affection from a girl to her man, parents, and family. The novel applies progressive plot and the main character in the Sakura novel isKirana. The seeting of time on this novel isfrom 2004 to 2009; the setting of places are in Tokyo,Jepangand Yogyakarta, Indonesia; and the setting of social isabout Kiranathat comes from upper middle society. (3) The moral values contained on the novel consist of 14 good moral values, namely; having in faith to God Almighty, obeying the religious orders, tolerance, self-discipline, responsibility, self-control, positive thinking, love and affection, togetherness and mutual help, solidarity, mutual respect,pudency, etiquette and manners, and honesty. (4) The propernesses of Sakura novelas teaching material in Senior High School according to B Rahmanto, are in terms of language point of view, mental maturity, and cultural background of learners.
