Abstract

This study is conducted to examine the influence of self-disclosure training which concerning on the interpersonal communication ability in disability students. The subjects of this research are 24 students of BBRSBD Surakarta. It divided into two groups namely experimental and control group. Each group consists of 12 participants. The experimental group was given a sharing training treatment while the control was not. This study is using experimental pretest-posttest control group design. The subject distribution of control and experimental group is done by using random assignment. The material which presented during training process is self-analysis, personality type, personality traits, self-disclosure, and empathy. The data of interpersonal communication ability is measured by using Aiken. The result of the validity test is 0.75 – 0.97 which means that the data is relevant and having reliability level on 0,870. The outcome of hypothesis experiment is using Mann Whitney U yielded Z = -3, 267 with Asymp. Sig. 0,001 (p < 0.05). Moreover, Wilcoxon is resulting Z = -2,905 with the Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) 0,004 (p<0,05). The Wilcoxon result means if there is a significant difference in the interpersonal communication ability between the trained students and not. Thereby, self-disclosure training is effective to enhance the interpersonal communication ability in disability learner.
