Abstract

Workplace accidents are an obviously undesirable and often unexpected event that can result in loss of time, substance or property or loss of life in an industrial or related work process. According to research dr. Joseph in 2005-2007 on the Ministry of Health RI, noted that the number of work accidents rate due to injection needle sticks reached 38-73% of total health care workers. Preliminary study at PKU Muhammadiyah Surakarta Hospital showed 5 out of 10 respondents surveyed had experienced work accident. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship of occupatonal health and safety inspection by occupational health and safety committee with work accident rate in nursing unit at PKU Muhammadiyah Surakarta Hospital. The type of this research is quantitative observational analytic research with cross-sectional approach. The sample of this research is nurses at PKU Muhammadiyah Surakarta Hospital counted 84 people, by using accidental sampling technique. Data analysis using Chi-square test. The result of the research shows that there is a correlation between occupational health and safety inspection variables (p = 0,000) with incident of work accident which means there is correlation between occupational health and safety inspection by incident of with work accident in nursing unit at PKU Muhammadiyah Surakarta Hospital.
