Abstract

UKM Supiarso is one of UKM located in Kampoeng Batik Laweyan Solo which produce kinds of batik cap. Almost all activities in the process of making batik cap is done manually with sitting and standing position in a long time. Such activity could potentially pose a risk of injury to workers. The purpose of this study is to determine the level of ergonomic risk in batik craftsmen in UKM Supiarso and provide recommendations for improvement of the measurement of ergonomic risk level on batik craftsmen. Assessment of ergonomic risk levels using Job Strain Index (JSI) and Loading on the Upper Body Assessment (LUBA) methods. There are 6 variables that will be assessed using JSI covering intensity of exertion, duration of exertion, effort per minute, hand / wrist posture, speed of work, and duration of task per day. While the LUBA method is used to evaluate the upper extremity of the body which includes the wrist, elbow, shoulders, neck, and back. The results showed that the assessment of ergonomic risk level based on JSI method there were 11 activities were at low risk level or the job was safe and 5 activities were at medium risk level. While the assessment of ergonomic risk level based on LUBA method there are 5 work activities are in category II, and 5 work activities are in category III, and 6 work activities are in category IV.
