Abstract

Competition in the glass craft industry demands the handicraft entrepreneur to compete in improving the quality of production in meeting the market demand in a timely manner, so the company must make continuous improvement in order to compete and maintain the existence of the company in the market. Therefore the design of a good work system is important, so as to create an ergonomic work system. The purpose of this research is to increase the amount of production output of SMEs of Glass Works by using time and motion study method. The results showed that the work station that has the lowest number of production output is an assembly work station with a cycle time of 1198 seconds with the number of output/hour of 3 products. After repairs performed by eliminating the movement based on the economic principles of movement, the right hand and left handed hence obtained the normal working time of the assembly station of 794 seconds. The actual difference in actual working time and repair is due to ineffective placement of equipment and work facilities, the absence of SOPs for each job and lack of worker knowledge of the work.
