Abstract
Along with the development of the era of the need for concrete brick is increasingly varied, such as the need of lightweight concrete brick that began to replace conventional concrete brick. Lightweight concrete weighs less than 1900 kg / m3 (SNI 03-2847-2002). To produce lightweight concrete in the mixture can use materials that have light density. The use of materials that have light density is used in the effort to reduce the weight of concrete. Materials that have light weight that can be used for lightweight concrete one of them is styrofoam used as substitution of fine aggregate. In this study using specimens of concrete brick with size 39 cm x 10 cm x 9 cm. The mixture of the specimen uses a ratio of 1: 3 mixture of cement to fine aggregate with a value of fas 0.38. The method used in the manufacture of concrete is the method of self compacting concrete to facilitate the work of mixing. The materials used are the fine aggregate of Boyolali, Semen Tiga Roda, water from the Building Materials Laboratory of the Department of Civil Engineering Faculty of Engineering Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta, styrofoam, and superplasticizer production of PT. SIKA, with variations of styrofoam addition of 0%, 30%, 40%, 50% which are substituted for fine aggregate. The number of sample specimens 10 for each percentage of additions (5 light concrete bricks, 3 cubes, 2 strong bending beams), so that the total specimen is 40 pieces. The test was done at the age of 14 days at the Laboratory of Building Materials Department of Civil Engineering Faculty of Engineering Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta. From the result of the research, it can be concluded that in the test of the weight of the volume on the concrete in the average of the specific gravity for each variation of styrofoam addition of 0%, 30%, 40% and 50% is 2,073.50 kg / cm3, 1,813.9 kg / cm3, 1,611,97 kg / cm3 and 1,505,13 kg / cm3 and on mechanical test of concrete brick obtained by compressive strength for each variation of styrofoam addition 0%, 30%, 40% and 50% are 27,57 MPa, 26,08 MPa, 14,36 MPa and 10,40 MPa while for flexural strength obtained for each variation of styrofoam addition 0%, 30%, 40% and 50% are 5,64 MPa, 5,33 MPa, 4,71 MPa and 4,53 MPa.
