Abstract

Suburban areas (peri-urban) are dynamic areas characterized by increasing population growth. Increased population growth can lead to changes in land use to meet the socio-economic needs of the population. The Spatial Detail Plan Document is prepared to be a guide for development in a region. This study aims to examine land use change in Margroejo sub-district in 2009-2017 and assess the suitability of land use change with the Spatial Detail Plan. The method used is survey method and GIS analysis method. GIS analysis method (Geographic Information System) is by doing overlay. The analysis techniques were performed for spatial analysis, land use analysis, conformity analysis, and descriptive analysis. The results showed a land use change that took place over 163.84 ha over a period of eight years. Land use change occurred mostly from irrigated rice field to settlement area of 68,70 ha or 41,93% and land use change which at least is mooring into building area of 0,49%. Land use change may occur due to the increasing demand for land each year. The classification of the suitability of land use change with the Spatial Detail Plan is known to be mostly in the range of 132.99 ha or 81.18%, less suitable 16.88 ha or 10.30%, and not 13.96 ha or 8.52%. The suitability of inappropriate land use change may be due to landowners' ignorance about the Spatial Detail Plan or the lack of strict government in granting land use change permits.
