Abstract

ABSTRACT By: Tri Teguh Islami Majid Patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus are expected to perform self-care with relevant behaviors to avoid blood glucose levels such as physical disability. Some factors that can support physical adherence in patients with diabetes mellitus, including family support factors. This study aims to determine the relationship between family support with adherence to physical exercise in people with diabetes mellitus in Gatak Sukoharjo Health Center.This research is a descriptive correlative research with cross sectional approach. The study population was all patients with diabetes mellitus who routinely performed outpatient at Gatak Sukoharjo Health Center, and got population of 122 people. The samples were 55 patients using accidental sampling technique. The data were collected used questionnaire and data analysis used Spearman rank correlation test. This research concludes there was relationship of family support with physical activity at client of Diabetes melitus in work area of health center of Gatak Sukoharjo (rs = 0,779; p-value = 0,000). One of the functions of the family is the affective function of the function of mutual care, meaning that the family functions as a place of warmth and support stopover. Families who served as caregivers' were able to provide support to family members with chronic illness Keywords: family support, physical exercise compliance, diabetes mellitus patients
