Abstract

Retirement is a period of full-time employment both in private and civil servants. the fact is it does not apply to everyone. This unpreparedness arises because of worries that can not fullfill certain needs due to retirement and before a person is retired there is no future planning after the retirement time. This study aims to find out the relationship between coping strategies with future orientation to face retirement. The subjects of the study use population study, all civil servants who worked in the government of Kudus District aged 56-58 years and totalling 80 subject. Data collection method uses quantitative research method with measuring instrument used in the study are coping strategi scale and future oreintation scale. Data analysis technique using product moment correlation test. The results showed that coping strategy has a correlation with future orientation of 0,807 the level significance 0,000, means that there is a very significant positive relationship between coping strategy with future orientation to face retirement. The level of coping strategy is high and the future orientation level is high. The effective contribution of coping strategy to future orientation is 65.1% and there are 34.9% influenced by other factors among age, gender, socioeconomic status, social support, and social interaction.
