Abstract
THE DIFFERENCES OF ZINC (Zn) AND CALCIUM (Ca) INTAKE BETWEEN STUNTING AND NON STUNTING TODDLERS AT PANULARAN SURAKARTA Background : Impaired growth of toddlers caused by the disruptions during pregnancy, lack of micronutrients, less energy intake and infectious diseases that cause the occurrence of stunting at toddlers. Stunting or inhibition of body growth is one of malnutrition characterized by height according to age (TB/U) below the standard deviation. Preliminary study was conducted in the city of Surakarta result that the highest stunting prevalence in the work area of Puskesmas Penumping. Based on data of weighing in February 2016, the highest prevalence was in Kelurahan Panularan with very short children aged 12-36 was 22 (12.71%) toddlers and the number of short toddlers was 29 (16.76%). Research Method : The purpose of this study was to determine the differences of zinc (Zn) and calsium (Ca) intake between stunting and non stunting toddlers. The research using observational with cross-sectional method. Seventy one subjects were obtained by simple random sampling technique. Data intake of food intake obtained through 24 hours recall for 3 non-consecutive days and height measured (TB/U) using microtoice. The analysis of hypothesis using Mann-Whitney U test. Result : in the stunting group, the average of zinc intake is 181,43% and calsium intake is 136,52%, while in the non stunting group the intake of zinc is 197,92% and calsium 193,90%. Conclusion : There was no differences between zinc (Zn) and calsium (Ca) intake between stunting and non stunting toddlers. Keywords : toddlers, micronutrient, stunting
