Abstract
Indonesia is an archipelagic country and located in pacific ring fire which is at risk of various natural disaster including floods, landslides, and volcanoes. Natural disasters certainly bring the loss and suffering for victims, especially for adolescents. The purpose of this study was to find out how resilience in adolescents living in disaster areas. The participant were six subject, who were taken by purposive sampling technique, that is two subjects living in Kampung Sewu, two subject living in Gunung Kidul, two subject living in Sleman. Data analysis using content analysis. The result shows that all subject are able to adjust in every situation in disaster they faced. They can still do school task despite the disaster. They also keep themselves in order to study healthy when disaster comes. This study found there are uniqueness form resilience of three disaster. Subject living in flood-prone areas, can prepare to evacuate at the time of warning because the floods come slowly, but in areas of lindslides and volcanoes erupting subjects are only concerned with the safety of life since the disaster come suddenly. Other factors that affecting resilience are individual characteristics, family influences, the environment, institutions and types of disaster. Keywords: adolescents, disaster prone areas, resilience
