Abstract
Composite resin is an aesthetic restorative material that can bind to a tooth structure with a micromechanical system derived from an adhesive material. One is adhesive self etch. This material has the disadvantage of not being able to remove the smear layer properly, thereby blocking the maximal penetration process of adhesive material to the tooth structure. EDTA is a liquid disinfectant, its function is to demineralize selective hydroxyapatite without altering the collagen dentin structure, so it is used as cavity cleanser and to remove the smear layer. The aim of this research is to know the effect of the application of EDTA 17% as cavity cleanser to the adhesive selfactive compressive strength of composite resin material. The study used a sample of 32 maxillary permanent premolars classed by class V, grown in catalyst resin molds.The sample is divided into two groups. The first group was applied composite resin with EDTA 17%, the second group was applied without composite resin composite. Samples were immersed in artificial saliva for 24 hours, incubated at 37 ° C. Samples of dithermocycling with temperature 60 ° C and 4 ° C for 1 minute and repeated 25 times. The tensile strength of the composite resin is measured using the Universal Testing Machine. The results showed that there was significant difference of tensile strength value that is p = 0,000 (P <0,05) between the two groups.The tensile strength of self-adhesive etch resin composite resin materials using 17% EDTA can increase tensile strength.
