Abstract

Introduction: Adolescent is connecting or transition period between childhood and adulthood. Adolescent girls are a group that is vulnerable to malnutrition which is stunting. This issue relates to various deficiency factors, such as mother’s height, mother's age during pregnancy, maternal education and family economic status. Objective: This study aimed to determine the difference characteristics of mother and family on stunting and non-stunting adolescents at SMP Negeri 1 Nguter, Sukoharjo. Research Methodology: Thestudy used observational method with cross-sectional approach. There are 80 subjects obtained by simple random sampling technique. Mother and family characteristics data obtained by interview and data ofheight were measured using microtoice. Hypothesis test using independent t-test and Mann-Whitney. Results: In the stunting group, the average height of mother is 151.8 cm, maternal age during pregnancy is 29.5 years, maternal education is basic education, and family income is Rp. 1.722.520,-.In the non-stunting group mother's height is 155 cm, mother age during pregnancy is 30.5 years old, mother’s education is basic education, and family income is Rp. 2.224.575, -. Conclusion: There were differences in mother’s height of stunting and non- stunting adolescent girl, while there was no differences of mother’s age during pregnancy, maternal education and family economic on stunting and non-stunting adolescent.
