Abstract

As an important building and serve many parties, Kedungombo Reservoir must be built with high sefety standards. Including safety standards in generating electrical energy. The mechanical process of generating electricity requires detailed calculations on the main pipeline design for water hammer events. This event can result in damage to pipes and valves by too large a pressure hit. Types of data used for analytical purposes are secondary data including maximum water elevation data of the reservoir, rapid pipe diameter, initial elevation and the end of rapid pipe, and valve closing time. The data were analyzed to find the flow velocity of pipe (V), energy loss (hf), water hammer style, and to know the level of security of the rapid pipe at Kedungombo dam. Based on the analysis results obtained that the magnitude of pressure that occurs when the valve closure for 10 seconds is equal to 187,879 m. There was an additional pressure of 129.879 m compared to before closing. As for the results of the evaluation of the rapid pipe results obtained that the pipe is safe against water hammer with a security factor of 10.533 near the valve, exceeds the safety factor for the rapid pipe is> 3.
