Abstract
Calcium Chloride is the material has a lot of uses in the industry, such as to eliminate the dissolved substance in hydrocarbon, to eliminate the content of fluoride and other substance that are not desirable in the industrial effluents and, as preservatives in the canned food industry. Other function of calcium chloride is used deicing and dust controlling on the road. To meet the needs of the country, so designed a calcium chloride plant with capacity 25.000 ton/year. This plant will be planned at 2020 on the Tuban region. Calcium chloride is produced by reacting calcium carbonate and hydrochloric acid in the continuous stirred tank reactor (CSTR) at temperature 60oC with pressure 1 atm. The stages of calcium chloride production are preparation of raw material, reaction establishment, and purification. In this plant, the need of calcium carbonate is 2.764,8489 kg/hour that can be obtained from the limestone in Tuban region and the hydrochloric acid needed of 6.295,1583 kg/hour which have 32% concentration is obtained from PT. Petrokimia Gresik. The product of calcium chloride is 3.156,5657 kg/hour. Utilities for this plant are 6.897,5784 kg/hour of water supply, 23.495,0048 kg/hour of steam need, and unit provider of the power of 678,2884 kW. Provided generator only has capacity 550 kW and the rest by PLN. 43,2 m3/hour of the pressed-air is needed. Unit provider fuel needed is 1.501,1240 l/jam. This plant also has laboratory to control the quality of raw material, product, and waste materials. The type of this plant is Perseroan Terbatas (PT). From the economics analysis results of this plant show that the profit of before and after taxes are Rp52.523.831.585 and Rp36.766.682.109. The value Return of Investment before and after taxes are 21,7262% and 15,2083%. Pay out time before and after taxes are 3,15 years and 3,97 years. Break Even Point is 50,5905%. Shut Down Point is 21,0260%, and Internal Rate Return (IRR) based on Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) as much as 32,14%. From the economic analytic above we can conclude that this plant is profitable and reasonable to build.
