Abstract
ABSTRACT Emotional problems are an obstacle that is uncomfortable for someone, makes disappointment, sadness or despair. Results of research in Semarang show that about 11.6% of junior high school students has experienced mental and emotional problems associated with depression and emotional. Problems that arise such as anxiety, loss of hope, etc make teenagers try to solve them with their own understanding. Those problems came make somebody couldn’t control their act to solve them, and expecting to be solved as soon as possible. Therefore teenagers need guidance from parents and professional parties such as psychologists, guidance and counseling’s teacher to solve their problems. The purpose of this study is to describe the help-seeking among students who has been experienced emotional problems. The method used in this research is qualitative narrative descriptive approach. The method of this study was semi structure interview with 6 informants who has been experienced emotional problems with high level or high need (HN). The result shows that the problems faced by junior high school students who indicated emotional problems were 83.33% friendship; 33.33% quarrels with relatives; 16.66% got caught playing; 16.66% didn't do homework; 16.66% and come home late at night; 16.66%. The part who involved to appear emotional problems were peers, relatives, and parents. They were got emotional problems at school and playground. Help-seeking behavior according sources of help were informal (mother, grandparents and friends) and semi-informal (teachers). The type of help-seeking behavior were two, they were adpative and executive. Keywords: student of secondary school, emotional problems, help-seeking behavior
