Abstract
This study aims to describe: 1) Diagnosis of difficulty memorizing letters of alphabet in aldi 2nd grade students. 2) Describe the factors that cause difficulty memorizing letters of the alphabet. 3) Describe the obstacles of teachers in handling aldi students difficult to memorize the letters of the alphabet. 4) Describe the teacher's efforts in handling the difficulty of memorizing letters of the alphabet. This type of research is qualitative research. Informants in this study were the principal, grade 1 teacher, grade 2 teacher, parents of students, and students concerned. Data collection techniques used are observation, interviews, and documentation. Data were analyzed through data reduction measures, data presentation, and conclusions. Technique of examination of data validity is done by triangulation technique and source. The results showed that: (1) Diagnosis of difficulty memorizing the letters of the alphabet on the 2nd grader of Muhammadiyah 16 Karangasem can be seen from the condition of the students at the first grade back and forth when given the lesson, besides the decreasing of the academic performance of the child and from the observation of the student class seen to have Inaction when assigned. (2) Factors causing difficulty memorizing letters of the alphabet can be found from internal and external factors, internal factors are the values of students who are less good in each lesson, external factors namely lack of affection from parents. (3) Obstacles experienced in the diagnosis of difficulty memorizing the letter of the alphabet is, among others, the lack of student self-confidence in showing that he can actually but embarrassed in issuing his opinion. (4) The solution of the obstacles faced is always to motivate and encourage students to be confident while studying at school or at home, providing the parents with a letter to help and support the students' success in improving the memorization of the letters of the alphabet. Especially learn when out of school, such as tutoring, group learning guidance, and tutoring when parents at home. Keywords: Diagnosis, Learning Difficulties, Alphabet
