Abstract
Land in Beluk location Bayat District, Klaten Regency from research result (Kristianti, 2010) is clay soil. The land is 73.33% finer # 200, liquid limit = 77.25%, and plasticity index (PI) = 22.25%. According to the USCS classification the soil is grouped in fine grain soils. The problem with the soil is that during the dry season the soil becomes very hard and during the rainy season becomes very muddy it causes a crack in the road. Therefore, it is necessary to assess the physical and mechanical properties of the soil to support strong soil for use as a building base by stabilization using rice husk ash with variation 0%, 4%, 8%, 12% of soil weight. In this research, physical properties and mechanical properties were examined, including testing of specific gravity, testing of water content, testing of Atterberg boundaries, testing of soil grain size, standard Proctor testing, soaked and unsoaked CBR testing. The original and mixed soil research results were classified according to the AASHTO system, Land belongs to the A-7-5 group then, becomes group A-7-6. While based on the classification of USCS, mixed soil including CH and ML. The results of this study indicate the value of water content, specific gravity value, liquid limit value, plastic limit value, plasticity index, finishing value # 200 on the original soil decreased. The largest decrease in the increase of rice husk ash 12%. Shringkage limit values tend to increase against the original soil. The largest increase in the addition of rice husk ash 12%. Proctor standard test obtained wopt increase, the biggest increase in 12% rice husk ash ash 25% and γd max decreased, the biggest decrease in the addition of rice husk ash 12% by 1.31%. Soaked and unsoaked CBR values have increased. The largest soaked CBR value occurred in 12% ash rice husk ash and 10.0% unbaked CBR increase in rice husk ash 12% by 25%. Keywords: rice husk ash, clay soil, physical and mechanical properties, stabilization
