Abstract
Saga is plant that has activity for cough and sprue. The previous experiment saga leaves showed that plant have function as antibactery. The purpose of the research was to know the comparison of variation CMC-Na and mannitol to physical characteristic of lozenges and to know comparison of concentration CMC-Na and mannitol therefore to get an optimum formula. Tablet were formulated use factorial design method with various concentration of CMC-Na and manitol (1%:10%;6%:10%; 1%:70% and 6%:70%) . Optimization of formulas was conducted by Design Expert progam 10.0.6 (trial). The parameter included were flow rate, the angel of repose, tapped density, uniformity of weight, hardness, friability, soluble time, and taste response. The data obtained optimum formula which then done verified and analysis using One sample T-Test at 95% confidence level. Variations in CMC-Na and manitol concentrations affect the physical properties of granul and tablets by increased the flow rate, decreased the angel of repose, decreased the angel of reposed, decreased the tapped density, decreased CV (%) uniformity of weights, increased the hardness, decreased the friability, prolonged the solubility time and The result showed that optimum formula of the tablet has obtained at a combination of 1% CMC-Na (120 mg) and mannitol 70% (1400 mg). Statistical tests showed no significant differences in the test parameters of flow rate, the angel of repose, tapped density hardness, and solubility so the data were valid. Significant differences are showed in the uniformity of weights and friability but the verification data on these parameters meets the requirements in the literature so that the optimization results were valid, while the taste response are significantly different, so the data is invalid.
