Abstract
The process of plate formation by press or stamping method is widely used in the automotive industry to create components. The forming process uses a mold consisting of the top and the bottom. A good mold or dies design is to produce a product without disability. The mold design process becomes a very important factor to get a precision product. Common defects in the process of plate formation include the occurrence of thinning (thinning) and wrinkling (wrinkling). The defect of the product may be caused by various factors, such as mold. Currently the development of software (software) is very advanced so that the design process can be done in three dimensions. The assembly process can be done virtually. This will shorten the processing time of making the mold and can reduce process errors. In this research, design is done by using CATIA V5 software. While the process of formation and disability analysis is done by utilizing Autoform software. The design results using CATIA V5 show assembly images with no overlapping parts. The mold support components can be combined perfectly. The disability analysis is thinning - 0.3% to 0.1% of the initial plate thickness. Wrinkle analysis yields the highest value of 0.03mm. The formation process shows that it is still in a safe position based on the formability analysis of plate material.
