Abstract

Muhammadiyah Surakarta University has a Siti Walidah Main Building which is an integrated head office that functions as a rectorate office, bureau headquarters and service units to students including BAA, BAU, and IT offices. Preliminary survey known the number of computers used as many as 47 computers. Measurement of lighting intensity with BAA 246,66 lux, BAU 96,66 lux and IT 123,33 lux.The purpose of the study was to analyze the relationship of lighting intensity and exposure time of the computer monitor screen with fatigue on the eyes of BAA, BAU, and IT UMS employees. The type of research used in this study is an observational quantitative study with cross sectional approach. The study population of 54 employees with the sample used includes all employees of BAA, BAU, and IT UMS units amounted to 41 employees who attended the work during the research. Fisher's exact test results show p value of 0.418 <0.05 which means Ho accepted so there is no relationship between the intensity of lighting with eye fatigue and p value of 1,000 <0.05 which means Ho accepted so there is no relationship between the length of exposure to the monitor screen Computer with eyestrain. The conclusion of the study is that there is no correlation between the intensity of illumination and the long exposure of the computer monitor screen with eye fatigue on the employees of BAA, BAU, and IT UMS. Advice for universities is to equip the computer monitor screen employed by employees to work with antiglare to minimize the glare generated by the computer monitor screen and apply the lighting in the workroom in accordance with the standard of at least 300 lux and maximum 499 lux.
