Abstract

Process The formation and cutting of plate sheets is a process used in pressing machines to produce the shape of a workpiece using a pair of punch and cutting tools. The manufacturing process is called Punching where the workpiece material is placed between punch and dies with a square hole cutting result. In the process of cutting the workpiece there are several factors in determining the quality of cutting results, such as the clearance diameter between the punch and the dies, the shape of the cutting tool surface (punch) and the type of plate material and cutting tools. This thesis aims to design tool press tool as component of press test and expose influence of thickness variation of brass sheet to burr height. In this process the burr height is measured using a macro microscope with magnification of 5.6X. Material of test object that used is brass sheet with variation of thickness 0,7 mm and 0,8 mm. The results showed that the thickness of the material and the Clearance affect the quality of punching holes on the thickness variations of 0.7 mm and 0.8 mm with 0.048 mm clearance, burr height of 0.8 mm thickness smaller than the thickness of 0.7 mm, Average 0.254 mm of left side hole and 0.478 mm of right side hole.
