Abstract
Basic teaching skills are very important mastered by a teacher because it is influential in the learning process and student learning outcomes. Microteaching is one of the means to practice basic teaching skills. The purpose of this study is to determine the difficulties of Biology Education students Faculty of Teacher Training and Education UMS in mastering the basic skills of teaching TAPEVA in microteaching 2015/2016. This research type is descriptive qualitative. Sampling technique in this research is purposive sampling by using questionnaire and interview. Based on the research, it is found that the students of Biology Education Faculty Education and Teacher Training Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta 2013 feel dificult mastering ask question skill (25,20%), strengthening skill (15,79%), and provide variation skill (29,58%). The conclusion is basic skill of teaching that is difficult to be mastered by the students of Biology Education of Faculty Education and Teacher Training Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta on microteaching 2015/2016 is skill to provide variation (29,58%).
