Abstract

Solo City is an autonomy region under Jawa Tengah Provincial city status. The city is located between 110 45` 15" - 110 45` 35" East Longitude and 70` 36" - 70` 56" South Latitude, with the north side of Boyolali Regency and Karanganyar Regency as the region borders, west and east side of Karanganyar Regency and Sukoharjo Regency, and the south side of Sukoharjo Regency. Viewing the location of Solo city for being the center from Boyolali, Karanganyar, and Sukoharjo Regency, which makes the city become into a strategic place to organize any exhibitions, companionships, and conventional activities. Conventional activities, companionships, and exhibitions in Solo are most likely to be held in a hotel’s ball room that located in the city. The large amount of activities that have to be done in the city causing the activities can’t be organized at the same place or the same time besides the activities are related to one another, so that it is needed to have such a place which is possible to accomodate every relational activities to be done at the certain times that we called it as Solo Convention and Expo Centre (SCEC). SCEC is having a purpose to be the convetion center and exhibition in Solo city that fully equipped with sufficient facilities, a flexible room concept, and to facing the MICE (Meeting, Incentives, Conference, Exhibitions) commercial competencies. Solo Convention and Expo Centre’s planning targets are being a place to accomodate every activities in the city as one and being an interactional medium between the city’s society with neo vernakular architecture concept.
