Abstract
This study concerns with the novel entitled Dirty Blonde, which is written by Lisa Scottoline. The analysis of this research paper is focused on how the major character’s anxiety is reflected in the major character Cate Marie Fante, namely, Lisa Scottoline based on its structural elements and psychoanalytic approach. In analyzing the psychoanalytic approach, the writer applies the theory of psychoanalytic approach by Sigmund Freud. This research belongs to qualitative research, which employs textual data. The textual data are taken from two sources namely the novel itself as primary data sources and other materials which are related to the study as secondary data source. The result of this study is as follows: Firstly, the structural elements of the novel present a unity. It appears in the exposition, complication, climax, and resolution of the story. Secondly, the psychoanalytic approach shows that the anxiety can occur when a person has conflicts in her personality.
