Abstract
Citizen is an inseparable part of state establishment. The established state has obligate to guarantee the prosperity of their citizen. Economic development of citizen is not only the responsibility of the central goverment but also the local goverment. Economic development is done to improve life prosperity needs to involve the society by utilizing the exsist resources in various fields. The purpose of this reseach to describe empowerment of labor and improvement of economic prosperity of Kedungsari villagers Kecamatan Pengasih Kabupaten Kulon Progo. Source of data in this research have 3 type, there are informant, phenomenon dan document. Data collection techniques using observation, interview and documentation with interactive model data analysis. Data validity using technique triangulation and source triangulation. The result of the research show that Economic resource development of villager society has been done through empowerment of the labor and improvement of society economic prosperity, as follow 1) Economic resource development of villager society through water hyacinth craft can create jobs for house wifes. The result of crafting can be used to increase income. 2) the number of unemployed is reduced by water hyacinth craft industy because 63 housewifes have worked as craftman. 3) Economic resource development of villager society through water hyacinth craft can increase income as craftman there is additional income and they can buy motorcycle. 4) improving of life prosperity seen from changes in economic state of society, in additional to fulfill the life need as well as for other purpose such as giving money to their child, add facilities. The craft industry under the supervision of kedungsari chief village through the head of ngramang hamlet where the industry stands to be monitored for the society development.
