Abstract

The background of this research emphasized on the optimization character of curiosity and and self-responsibility of students grade V through Implementation of Outdoor Learning method. This research is descriptive qualitative research. This research aims to: 1) Describe the implementation of Outdoor Learning method in optimizing the character of curiosity and self-responsibility, 2) Describe the obstacles or weaknesses of the implementation Outdoor Learning method in optimizing the character of curiosity and self-responsibility, and (3) Describe the solution to solve the obstacles of the implementation Outdoor Learning method in optimizing the character of curiosity and self-responsibility. The technique of data collection used interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis used interactive analysis consisting of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. Validity data of this research used triangulation method. The results were showed as follows; (1) The implementation of Outdoor Learning method in optimizing the character of curiosity and self-responsibility on students as follows; (a) Able to interact to others and can be seen through more active students, interested in observing various phenomenon around them, active in asking question, be brave to take decision, finishing assignment on time, and active in group learning. (b) For the maintaining of the cleanliness and preservation of the school environment, students able to keep school environment such as interested in observing phenomenon around and be brave to take decision. (c) Students were easy to adapt to their environment can be seen through as follows; students be more active, students active in asking questions, finishing assignment on time, and be active in group learning. 2) The weaknesses of the implementation Outdoor Learning method in this research as follows; (a) Class conditioning, (b) time management, (c) facing quiet students. 3) Solution of the implementation of Outdoor Learning method in this research as follows; (a) Teacher grouped students into several groups; (b) teacher must be able to use time effectively, (c) Teacher does individual approach to the quiet students. The conclusion of this research was the implementation of Outdoor Learning method in optimizing character of curiosity and self-responsibility in the students of Grade V can be applied in daily teaching learning process as a method to develop character of students.
