Abstract

This research mainly discusses the pragmatic analysis on the food and beverage product slogan. The objectives of the study are to describe the linguistic form and the implicature of English slogan of the food and beverage product. This research is qualitative research. The object of the study is English slogan on food and beverage product in its package. The data are English slogan (word, phrase, or sentence) taken from food and beverage product. The method of data collection is document method followed by the technique of checklist. The technique of data analysis is determining the linguistic form of slogan that refers to the theory of linguistic form, describing context in package, and to analyze each slogan by using Grice’s theory of maxim and implicature. The writer finds three categories of linguistic form, they are: word, phrase and sentence and the implicature can be classified into two classes, namely conventional implicature and conversational implicature.
