Abstract
Extract of banana corms and banana leaves extract contain secondary metabolite compounds of phenol compounds such as saponins, glycosides, tannins, and flavonoids. Secondary metabolites in plants have antimicrobial activity for both bacteria and fungi. Banana corms and banana leaves can be utilized in the world of health that is as hand sanitizer because the content of its compounds as antibacterial. The purpose of this study is to determine the stability of hand sanitizer banana corms and banana leaves and also to know the effectiveness of long time storage in reducing the amount of bacterial colonies. This research is an experimental research using Random Design Complete (RAL) 2 factor that is natural hand sanitizer material (banana corms and banana leaves) and long storage hand santizer (0, 3, and 6 day). The effectiveness test used replica method on Nutrient Agar (NA) medium, then incubated for 24 hours and counted bacterial colonies growing. The statistical test uses a Post Hoc Test with Scheffe Test. The statistical results show that hand sanitizer banana corms and banana leaves are effectively used on day 0. The stability of the hand sanitizer of the corms and banana leaves on third day is unstabil.
