Abstract
Teachers are the dominant element in education process, so the quality of education is largely determined by the quality of teachers in performing their roles and duties in the community. The purpose of this research is to know the PCK capability of the science teachers at VIIIth grade on Junior High School in Magetan Regency in preparing a lesson plan of 2016/2017 academic year. The Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK) it is an understanding of what methods of learning are effective for explaining certain materials, and an understanding of what learning methods are effective for a particular material implementer, as understanding what makes certain material easy or difficult to learn.The type of this research is descriptive qualitative. The sampling technique in this research is purposive sampling, wherever Technique of sampling teacher in this research is purposive sampling which the sampling based on a certain consideration so that data obtained can be more representative and by taking five lesson plan randomly for each teacher. Based on the research that has been done, it is found that the CK capability of teachers is not good (22%), PK is enough (59,42%), and PCK capability is categorized good (76.33%). Thus, the CK capability of Science teachers at VIIIth grade Junior High School in Magetan regency for preparing the lesson plan of 2016/2017 academic year is including the weakest.
