Abstract

This study entitled "Analysis of Causality Relationship between Inflation to Growth in Surakarta year 1986 - 2015". The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between inflation and economic growth in Surakarta Year 1986 - 2015, data in this study were obtained from Surakarta, Central Statistics Agency. This research is conducted by using granger causality test is a method of analysis to determine whether there is a causal relationship between two variables. Granger causality test results revealed that there is a causal relationship in both directions shown on the lag 3 with a probability value of 0.0032 and 0.0011 (< 0.05). From the analysis it can be concluded that there is two-way causality between inflation and economic growth. Based on these results, the government needs to take initiatives to further enhance the region's economic growth, one of which opened a new job opportunities so that the welfare of the population will be fulfilled because of the high level of welfare of the population will increase the economic growth that affects the inflation rate in Surakarta.
