Abstract

The research has two objectives: (1) to describe the connotative expression meaning on the short story essay of students class VII PK 1 and VII PK 2 MTs Negeri 1 Surakarta, (2) to describe the use of connotative expression meaning as an indonesia language material in SMP. The method used in this research was qualitative research. The data in this research was sentence on the short story essays of students class VII PK 1 and VII PK 2 MTs Negeri 1 Surakarta which contains the meaning of connotative expression. The data source of this research was 40 short story essay of students class VII PK 1 and VII PK 2 MTs Negeri 1 Surakarta. The techniques used to collect the data were technique using note and document. The research used padan referent method to analyze the data. The result of this research were (1) there are 169 meaning of connotative expression on the short story essay of students class VII PK 1 and VII PK 2 MTs Negeri 1 Surakarta, (2) the result of this research was used as an indonesia language material in SMP of class VII with KI 4 and KD 4.1 students are asked to capture the descriptive meaning.
