Abstract
Ethanolamine plant from ethylene oxide and ammonia are intended to provide the need of ethanolamine inside the country and to be exported. The ethanolamine is produced by multilevel reaction with reactions of ethylene oxide and ammonia. The production of ethanolamine is carried out in a plug flow reactor. The ethanolamines used for makes etergent industry, textile, cement, and gas purification.The ethanolamine plant from ethylene oxide and ammonia planned to be established at industrial zones in Cilegon, Banten with capacity 62,000 ton/year. The reaction of ethanolamine from ethylene oxide and ammonia will produce 3 products, which are monoethanolamine,diethanolamine,andriethanolamine, with total conversion of 99%. The reaction undergoes in gas phase with temperature range of 52-60ºC and pressure of 3 atm. The plant needs ethylene oxide as much as 1,741.5458 kg/hour, and ammonia as much as much 6,332.1277 kg/hour. The Utilities include 124,035.987 kg/hour of water, 450 kW of electricity, and 493.7743 kg/hour fuel. The water supply is obtained from Cidanau river. rom the economic analysis it is found that the Percent Return On Investment (ROI) before tax is 44.45% and 35.56% after tax. The Pay Out Time (POT) before tax is 1.84 and 2.2 years after tax. The Break Even Point (BEP) is 40.05%. The Shut Down Point (SDP) is 23.95%, and Internal Rate of Return (IRR) is 38%. Considering these economical parameters it can be concluded that the plant ethanolamine from ethylene oxide and ammonia with capacity of 62,000 tons/year of profitable and feasible to set up.
