Abstract

The research with the title of “Potential Analysis and evelopment of Tourism in Nusakambangan, Southern Cilacap District as Tourist Attraction of Cilacap Regency” has the objectives to 1) evaluate the tourism potential of angan Island in Southern Cilacap District as tourism attraction in Cilacap Regency, 2) develop the strategic development of tourism attraction in Nusakambangan Island, Southern Cilacap Regency. The methods used in this research were field observation and interview, while the analysis method was used scoring method for each variable of internal, external, and both combination. SWOT Analysis was used for analyzing the Strength, Weakness, Opportunities, and Threats of each tourism object in order to decide the development direction of potential tourism in the future. Tourism potential evaluation of Nusakambangan Island, Southern Cilacap District can be built as tourist attraction potential of Cilacap Regency, which has potential as follow; Kampung Laut has a high of internal and external scores as 27 which has complete and supporting systems of tourism; Gua Maria has a low both internal and external scores as 17 due to the lack of supporting systems and bad infrastructures. Optimizing the power of each tourism object should be done for developing the strategy of tourist attraction in Nusakambangan Island for getting the more attentions of visitors. One step that could be done is having good and real cooperation between the government and the locals for managing and developing the tourism objects to be better. The strategic development could be started with the development of tourism amenities such as toilets, restaurants, prayer rooms, and cleaning services around the area.
