Abstract
The purpose of research to describe the difficulties college students mathematics education in problem solving calculus many variables especially college students half of three. This research qualitative descriptive. The subjects were college students half of three FKIP UMS. Data collection methods interview and documentation. Data analysis techniques through data reduction, data display, and conclusion. The results showed that college students having difficulty in problem solving calculus many variables. First, 13% of students have difficulty in perseveration aspects, is students can not concentrating on the problems solving, can not estimate the time while working, as well as less conscientious students to write their answers. Second, 14,5% of the students have difficulty in understanding the concept of aspects, include: (1) the difficulty in defining problems, such as students still confused in determining the right concept for problems solving; (2) difficulty remembering concepts. Third, 18% of the students have difficulty in calculating aspects include: (1) the difficulty in calculating the derivative, is a student can not derive a function; (2) difficulties in arithmetic operations, such as students less careful in calculating the multiplication operation.
