Abstract

This research was conducted in the District of Sewon Bantul. There are four villages in Sewon District. Imagery that used in this study is Quickbird imagery. The purpose of this study was to analyze the Shareable land use changes in the District of Sewon and Factors that could cause land use changes. The method used in this study is a survey method, with purposive sampling and analysis methods is spatial analysis with geographic information system using the overlay process. The results of this study are land use map District of Sewon 2006, 2014 and land use map changes. Based on the results of processing of the data shows that the land use changes that occurred in the district of Sewon. Land use with the biggest changes is a rice field. Rice field decreased vast amount of 4,3 %. Most of the rice fields have turned into settlements. Settlements increased by 42.53 ha or about 3.7% of the total area of 2006 which amounted to 1125.59 ha. Changing of rice field into settlement can be caused by several factors, one of them is due to the growth of population resulting in an increased need for Settlements. Another factor that can cause land use changes is the development of the surrounding area. The limited available land in urban areas making development tends to lead to the suburbs because it is still the availability of land, so that the suburbs will be affected.
