Abstract
Background: Exercise body building cause micro tears in the muscle tissue trained. This small tears cause aches and pains. Pain that occurs after the body building exercises are categorized as sports injuries or overuse injurie sustainable because physiology excessive workload. There are several methods of therapy used to relieve pain, one of them with a cold bath method of therapy. Objective: To determine the effect of cold bath therapy to decrease muscle pain after body building chest. Benefits Research: to add a reference about handling sports injuries, especially in body building with a cold bath therapy. Methods: The research in this study is quasi-experimental approach to pre and post test without control group design. The population in this study are members gymer member or non-member in Maska Fitness Traning Center Makam Haji, Kuwiran. Pain was measured using a Visual Analogue Scale (VAS). Results were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test and Mann-whitney test. Results: The Wilcoxon test showed results in the control group p = 0.034 ˂ 0.05 which means that there are differences in mean values of pain before and after the control group. Mann-Whitney test results show the results in the treatment group p = 0.004 ˂ 0.05, which means a significant difference between the cold bath therapy to decrease muscle pain after body building chest. Conclusion: there is the effect of cold bath therapy to decrease muscle pain after body building chest.
