Abstract

This objective of this study are 1) to know the teachers ability in translating English, 2) to know the problem faced by the teachers, 3) to know the result of the teachers translation compared with source language and target language. And this study uses descriptive qualitative in which it is started from collecting the data classification the data and analysis the data then making the conclusion. In this research, the writer shows that 1) the ability of the English teacher is fair, it evidence with the score they got the average is 64,8. And the score that has got by the teachers are really various, it can be explained as follow, three teachers get citition good, ten teachers get citition fair and one teacher get citition bad, 2) the problem faced by the teachers in translating English texts such as transferring message from source language into target language, equivalence and the use of meaning in translation or the limitation of vocabulary in which lexical meaning is the dominant in doing translation. Besides, the teachers can’t differentiate the word, phrase, idiom, even sentence, and can not place the word or meaning in the right position and less of grammar. 3) then the result of the teacher’s translation is not mostly equivalence, however there are some teachers who doing totally mistake. It can be concluded that the English teachers ability of Elementary School at Cepogo Subdistrict in translating English texts is necessary be improve in order there quality and ability in translation better.
