Abstract

Introduction: Vitamin C and zinc have roles in improving immune system of post caersarean section, helping patients the proses of collagen synthesis in injury healing process, and the formation of the immune system in the body, so the risk of getting infection in the wound of caesarean section will decrease. Some factors that affect the wound healing process alter caesarean section are intakes of vitamin C and zinc. Objective: To know the relationship between intakes of vitamin C and zinc and wound healing process in post caesarean section patients. Methods: We used the method of analytical observation with cross-sectional design. Sampling technique used consecutive sampling. The samples were 40 women who were taking caesarean section surgery. Data on intakes of vitamin C and zinc were obtained from semi-quantitative FFQ. Caesarean section wound healings data were obtained through observation form on wound healing. Data analysis used Spearman Rank tests. Results: The most respondents had normal intake of vitamin C (67.5%). The most respondents had high intake of zinc (52.5%). All respondents in PKU Muhammadiyah Hospital in Surakarta had good heaving process. Rank Spearman tests showed p value of 0.073 (> 0.05) for vitamin C, p value of 0.075 (> 0.05) for zinc. Conclusion: There was no relationship between intakes of vitamin C and zinc and wound healing process in caesarean section patients at outpatient installation in PKU Muhammadiyah Hospital of Surakarta.
