Abstract

This research paper is aimed at describing technique in teaching vocabulary to the first year students of SDN 2 TEGUHAN NGAWI. The reason of conducting this research in this school is because the technique applied in the school does not support the students’ vocabulary improvement. To know the problems faced by the teacher in teaching vocabulary using the technique of SDN 2 TEGUHAN NGAWI. The technique is the most appropriate applied by the teacher in SDN 2 TEGUHAN NGAWI. In this research, the writer conducted descriptive qualitative research. It aims at collecting information of a phenomenon which occurred. The methods of collecting data are observation, document, and interview. There are two types of data, primary and secondary. The data are taken from observation, interview, and document. The result of the research paper are; 1) There many techniques implemented in teaching vocabulary such as shows that; pre-teaching, repeated exposures, keyword method, words map, and root analysis, and restructuring reading materials, but the teacher in SDN TEGUHAN 2 NGAWI implemented the technique using repeated exposures. 2) The problems faced by the teacher in the teaching-learning process in SDN 2 TEGUHAN NGAWI are the teachings materials, students’ language background, and the teaching technique. 3) There are many techniques of teaching vocabulary, the technique of uses of repeated exposures to words implemented by the teacher was appropriate for the first year students of SDN 2 TEGUHAN NGAWI.
