Abstract
The study aims to describe the implementation of Initiation Response Feedback in teaching English to the students and to find whether Initiation Response Feedback can improve the students’ mastery, involving listening, speaking, reading, and writing of English in SDN 1 Sambon Banyudono Boyolali. The study is a classroom action research that is conducted through the stages of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting the result of the teaching learning process. The subject of the study is the fifth year students of SDN 1 Sambon Banyudono Boyolali. The object of the study is the English mastery of the students. The data are the narratives of the activity in teaching learning, which are gotten from event, informants, and document. The methods of collecting data are observation, interview, and document. The result of the study shows that Initiation Response Feedback can be used to improve the students’ English mastery. The mean score of listening, speaking, reading, and writing in pre-test is 6.91 while in the post-test is 7.86. The improvement of the students’ score is 0.95. It is done in three cycles, in which in each cycle there is improvement. In the first cycle, there is weakness in telling time, in listening and in speaking skill. In cycle two, the weakness reduced; and in cycle three, the problem can be solved, in which the students are able to tell their daily activity and to comprehend reading and listening text.
