Abstract

This study elaborates the gender equality in Robert Luketic’s Legally Blonde based on feminist approach. The writer focuses on the gender equality. The analysis is done by using feminist approach. After analyzing this film, the writer finds the reason of gender equality. This study belongs to qualitative study. In the method, there are two types of data sources, which are used by the writer, namely primary data source and secondary data source. The primary data source and the object are the film of the Robert Luketic’s Legally Blonde itself, meanwhile the secondary one is other data that are related to this study. The writer collects the data from both, primary and secondary data sources in a short of document as evidence. The study uses library research to collect the data. The collected data are analyzed by means of descriptive analysis. Based on the social historical background of American society at the late twentieth century, gender equality happened in America. The author through Elle as the main character wants to extend that women are equal to men. Women have struggled to get equality in position, role, right, and participation in the society. In the film Robert Luketic criticizes the views that put women subordinate to men.
