Abstract
This study describes the struggle for life of Chuck Noland viewed from individual psychological perspective and analysis the film Cast Away based on its structural elements. The research is conducted by using qualitative method. In this method, the writer uses two data sources, namely primary and secondary data source . the primary data is film Cast Away directed by Robert Zemeckis. The secondary data are from any books of literature and psychology, internet data, which are related to this study. The method of collecting data is observation. The result of the analysis shows the following conclusions: first, Robert Zemeckis wants to utter his idea that struggle to reach a goal of life should be achieved by great struggle to be better than before, and second, struggle to reach a goal of life which is achieved by a great struggle to be better will influence the psychological development of the major character. In the movie, Chuck Noland as the major character has to struggle for life which reinforces his psychological development.
